Philipstown Blood Drive Committee Offering Free Meals at Local Eateries for Next Drive

Will take place on May 4th at North Highlands Firehouse, Cold Spring

At the last Philipstown blood drive, a long-time donor brought up the fact that the same people come to every drive, year after year. With only 2% of New Yorkers who are eligible to give actually donating blood, an incentive was needed to bring new people to the upcoming drive on Friday May 4th at the North Highlands Firehouse. It is hoped that by coming to the event with a friend or loved one, it will make it easier for new donors to participate.

The volunteer committee that runs our local blood drives has been out in force asking area restaurants and delis to donate two free entrees to anyone that brings a friend to the May 4th drive. Those donors and their guests will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for the free meals.

Just about every local restaurant and deli is being approached and positive answers are expected shortly. If your deli or restaurant has not been approached and you want to participate please call the Nurse's office at Haldane (265-9254 Ext.125) and one of the blood drive volunteers will follow up. The participating establishments will be mentioned in the upcoming ad campaign for the blood drive, which is sponsored by the Matero family and Jaymark Jewelry of Cold Spring.
