Caring Veterinarian Inspires Gratitude
To the Editor:
Last month, my dog, Max, became gravely ill. Max was a 85-pound black lab who was lying in my second floor bedroom unable to stand. Because Max was so very sick, I called his vet, who advertises in this paper, "Modern Medicine with Old Fashioned Love", in the hope that there would be someone there who would be able to help.
The person I spoke with was less than sympathetic. She said that I could have an appointment the next afternoon at 3pm at the clinic. When I asked her if she could refer me to someone who could help, she just said no and that I could come the next day. All attempts by me and my two sons to just speak with the vet were unsuccessful - he refused to speak with any of us.
Fortunately, right at that time, a friend called and when I told her about Max she said that she would call a vet she knows to see what he could do. To my amazement and extreme relief, her vet came to my house to help. He came immediately, on his day off, assessed Max's condition and transported him to his clinic. I will be forever grateful to him for stepping up and helping me in this crisis.
What is hard to understand is the lack of professionalism and feeling shown by my vet during this crisis. I needed help and it was refused. Thank goodness this community now has a caring veterinarian.
