Public Urged to Attend Program on Cold Spring Village Comprehensive Plan

The Cold Spring Comprehensive Plan Special Board will host a public workshop Saturday, May 5 (time TBA) to introduce local residents to the planning process and the activities of the working groups crucial to its success.

To be held at the Village Hall, 85 Main Street, the program will allow the public to meet the Special Board, hear brief presentations on the informal panels involved in preliminary endeavors last fall, volunteer for the new working groups carrying the effort ahead, and share ideas. The session will begin with a welcome and overview by Special Board Chair, Carol Casparian.

At its meeting March 8, the Special Board called for the creation of five, subject-oriented working groups, each to be headed by a Special Board member. They are: Village Character, History & Historical Preservation, led by Stacey Matson-Zuvic; Economic Development, led by Marshall Mermell; Waterfront, Open Spaces & Natural Resources, led by Karen Doyle; Community Resources, led by Marie Early; and Government, Infrastructure & Public Services, led by Lillian Moser. In addition, the Special Board approved the continuation of the Survey Group, which began as an ad hoc committee drafting a public survey.

"We urge our neighbors in Cold Spring to join us on May 5 in taking this important step forward," Casparian said in announcing the meeting. "Just as a new Comprehensive Plan is vital to the future of our village, the involvement of our residents is crucial to the Comprehensive Plan. To craft the very best one possible, we need everyone's support."
