Students for a Sustainable Future EXPO at Pace University
Keep Putnam Beautiful a Participant

The second annual Students for a Sustainable Future EXPO will take place on April 26, 2007, at Pace University's Goldstein Gym, Pleasantville campus. Developed and organized by the Children's Environmental Literacy Foundation (CELF), the event is co-sponsored by Whole Foods, Pace, NY State Environmental Business Association, and P/NW BOCES. Over 1,000 students, teachers and community members are expected to participate, either as exhibitors or visiting on field trips.

The EXPO is designed to introduce area students to the concept of sustainable development by exposing them to real-world examples of green products and practices of international, national and local companies and non-profit organizations.

Middle school and high school student groups from NYC and from throughout the Lower Hudson Valley will present exhibits of their own designs on topics related to sustainable development. In addition, some of the numerous corporate exhibitors participating include Whole Foods, Merrill Lynch, Johnson Controls, NYSERDA, Heliotronics, Equal Exchange, Cameron- Cole, Green Seal, Green Courage, NikeWomen, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture and the Go Green Initiative/ Keep Putnam Beautiful.

Visit the EXPO website for a current listing of exhibitors (www.celfoundation.org/ expo). A Nike "Re-Use-a- Shoe" drop-off booth for recycling old sneaker will once again be included. At EXPO'06, over 650 pairs of old, worn out sneakers were collected and returned to the National Recycling Coalition for grinding down into playground and sportcourt materials.

In closing, Johnson Controls will present the winning NYS student of the National Energy Foundation's national challenge, "Igniting Creative Energy Challenge", a $1,000 award for their school.

The Children's Environmental Literacy Foundation is a notfor profit 501(c)3 organization that collaborates with public school districts and individual teachers to raise awareness of sustainable development and to help incorporate related principles into K-12 curricula and programs. For a complete listing of the CELF initiatives, including the EXPO, designed to integrate Sustainability Education into the nationwide K- 12 Education paradigm visit www.celfoundation.org.
