EPIC Updates Effective July 1 2007

Many EPIC seniors are using EPIC and Medicare Part D Drug Coverage together to save on their prescriptions. As a result of new legislation which will become effective July 1, 2007, seniors will now be able to save even more because EPIC will help them pay for their Part D coverage.

The Putnam County Office for the Aging reminds seniors of the following rules and benefits of the program

- All EPIC enrollees will be required to join a Medicare Part D Drug Plan as a condition of EPIC eligibility.

- EPIC will help enrollees pay for Part D premiums

- EPIC will enroll seniors into a basic Medicare Drug Plain based on the drugs and pharmacy they use, or the senior can choose a plan of their own.

- EPIC will continue to provide wrap-around coverage for drug costs not paid by Medicare Drug Plans such as deductibles, co-payments, coinsurance, drugs not covered and gap coverage.

If readers have any questions they can call the EPIC Helpline at 1-800-332-3742 (TTY 1-800- 290-9138) or the Putnam County Office For The Aging at 225-1034, Ext. 115
