Alaska Woman Apprehended on Philipstown Warrant
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the April 8, 2007 arrest of an Alaska resident on a local warrant for vandalism. Ms. Stacie McGinness, aged 33, of Seward, Alaska, faces charges in Dutchess and Putnam Counties.
On April 8th, the Dutchess County Sheriffs Department arrested Ms. McGinness in an unrelated matter. When Dutchess officials ran a wanted check on Ms. McGinness, they discovered that an outstanding warrant had been issued for her arrest by the Town of Philipstown Justice Court, charging her with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
Dutchess authorities notified the Putnam County Sheriffs Department of the defendant's apprehension and Putnam Sheriff's Deputy Thomas Des Jardins went to Dutchess County to take Ms. McGinness into custody on the warrant. The deputy brought the defendant before Philipstown Justice Stephen Tomann, who remanded her to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond, pending a future court date.
If convicted of the underlying criminal mischief charge, the defendant could face a penalty of up to one year in jail and a maximum fine of $1000.
