Carmel-Kent Lions Pledge $15,000 to Putnam Hospital Center

Carmel-Kent Lions Club President Lorraine Cheney (seated) recently signed a $15,000 five-year pledge to Putnam Hospital Center's Campaign for Tomorrow on behalf of the club as Lion Jay Brown (right) presented Putnam Hospital Center Foundation Executive Director Jeffrey D. Kellogg with the first installation of the pledge. The capital improvements campaign was created to help fund the construction of PHC's new five-story 113,000 square foot patient building to house its the new cancer center with radiation oncology, enhanced cardiology services, hospital/community use conference center, private patient rooms and physician offices; renovation of 20,000 square feet of existing space to centralize services and enhance clinical programs; and the creation of 300 additional parking spaces.

Most of the funds presented were raised at last fall's PHC Reservoir Classic Road Race & Health Expo, which has been sponsored by the Carmel-Kent Lions since its inception. According to race coordinator Jay Brown, the 20th Annual PHC Reservoir Classic Road Race & Health Expo will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the hospital.
