Find Lawn Care Solutions with New Turf Love Program
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County has a new program that promises to help residents have beautiful, healthy lawns while working less, spending less and protecting water quality.
By registering for Turf Love, a season-long lawn care education program, participants will learn the latest in lowmaintenance, environmentally sound approaches to healthy lawns, like soil testing before fertilizing, watering, mowing, and Integrated Pest Management principles that result in least-toxic pest control. For the $50 registration fee, the program offers: -Personalized home lawn site assessment - Complete soil nutrient analysis -Best management plan with recommendations on aeration, mowing, watering, shade management, pest management, weed control, turfgrass variety, liming and fertilizing -Invitation to the Turf Love Kickoff on Saturday, May 12, with miniworkshops on weeds, summer care, soil health, mowing and tools will help start the season right -Participation in Super Turf Saturday, September 29, where homeowners can compare their experiences, learn about fall lawn care and get information on how to protect lawns through the winter.
Turf Love is partially funded by a grant from the New York State Integrated Pest Management Program and is limited, this year, to Putnam County residents.
