Convicted Narcotics Dealer Gets 4 Year Prison Term
Putnam County District Attorney Kevin Wright has announced that convicted narcotics seller, Joseph Davis, was sentenced April 25th 2007 to a determinate State Prison term of four years and two years post release supervision, concluding a month-long investigation and prosecution of the narcotics trafficking activities in the Town of Putnam Valley. County Judge James T. Rooney sentenced Davis based upon his December 4th, 2006 guilty plea to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class C Felony.
The case was set for trial in front of Judge Rooney on December 4th. On that day, however, Davis decided to plead guilty to the felony charge.
The investigation by the Putnam County Narcotics Task Force led to the arrest of Davis on March 27, 2006. According to Wright Davis sold narcotics, specifically cocaine, on several occasions to undercover agents and immediately after the last transaction fled the scene. After further investigation, Davis was arrested.
According to District Attorney Wright, Davis was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mary Jane MacCrae and was represented by Charles Diven, of Yorktown Heights, New York.
Wright further indicated that Davis will continue his remand status at the Putnam County Correctional Facility until he is transported to State Prison.
