Shields Picked for Three All Star Teams and 'Player of the Year'
Haldane star Brittany Shields completed a great basketball season with a series of honors bestowed on her in late March and early April.
Shields was selected to the second team All-State Basketball by the New York Sportswriters Association. She was also selected on the first team All Star team by both the Journal News and the Poughkeepsie Journal.
As an added bonus, she was selected "Player of the Year" by the Poughkeepsie Journal. To be considered for "Player of the Year one has to be able to perform at one's best when the spotlight is on you, on the biggest stage." Brittany's First Team All Star teammates are Ally Biordei of Beacon, Amanda Eggink of Red Hook, Caitlyn Moran of John Jay and Jacinda Williams of Lourdes.
Brittany was selected "Player of the Year" because of her consistent performances and her jaw-dropping numbers of 21.7 points per game on 71 percent shooting and her 14.2 rebounds per game. Her totals through her junior year are 1433 points and 1,005 rebounds.
