Philipstown Soccer Club Season Opens With Success

The field at St. Basils was freshly lined and the corner flags were up last Sunday as the Philipstown Soccer Club began season #2. The Lady Knights opened against the Rivertowns Thunder and a very exhausting game ended in a 0- 0 tie.

The Knights' Savannah O'Malley sent shot after shot to the Thunder goal but could not get one in the back of the net. The Defense consisting of Keeper Alex Milner, Sara Olmstead, Phoebe Risher and Juliana Durr shut down every drive. Coach Erik Risher was proud of this opening day performance.

The Club's newest team "The Philipstown Dragons" opened after the Knights on Sunday and made the club proud. They opened their first season against a very strong Larchmont team that resulted in a 2-1 win for the Dragons. David Sternau and Dylan Culp scored for the Dragons while Wil Hoffman and Gavin Brower split defending the goal. The entire team played a great game and Coach Shaefer was very happy with their performance.

The club invites the entire community to come watch soccer at its best. For info and game schedules go to
