Three Photographers Exhibit at Wild Wood Gallery

Three noteworthy and diverse photographers will be exhibiting their work at Wild Wood Gallery, 442 Main Street, Beacon, with an opening reception on May 12 from 5-9pm. Bill Binzen, Craig Robins, and Jan Halle each have a very distinctive photographer's eye or visual viewpoint.

Bill Binzen is a long time veteran whose editorial photography has graced the pages of many premier publications from Life, Esquire, and Time to McCalls, Fortune and the New York Times Magazine. Bill will be showing a retrospective selection of photographs that represent a variety of subjects and locations at home and abroad. He is the photographerauthor of three books: Doubletake, The Berkshires and Tenth Street. He lives along the Housatonic River in Salisbury, Connecticut.

Jan Halle, a Danish photographer living in Japan, will be exhibiting images from an ongoing project about the experience of night in the urban environment. His images focus on fragments of nature in the nocturnal cityscape affected by a combination of different light sources, the elements, wind and rain, and the changing of seasons.

Jan has had his photographs exhibited in Japan, France, Canada, England, and the USA.

Craig Robins, an attorney from Huntington, L.I., is a selftaught photographer who produces unique, surrealistic images, often unsettling, with dark overtones and a cutting edge. He will be presenting captivating larger-than-life portraits of strangers he meets on the street. This series focuses on intimate and powerful tightly cropped black & white portraits utilizing a minimalist approach that captures its subjects with serious eye contact, drama, emotion and attitude. In addition, he uses the digital darkroom to alter the image and make it appear as if he photographed the subject in a stark studio setting.

The exhibition will be ongoing through June 3. The opening reception, May 12th from 5-9pm, will coincide with Beacon's Second Saturday event when all galleries are open late. Wild Wood Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 12 -6 pm or by appointment. For more information call 845 831 0333 or visit wildwoodgallery.org.
