Mount Gulian Offers Free Lecture: Influence of the Dutch in the American Kitchen
Peter Rose, culinary historian and expert on Dutch cooking, will give an illustrated slide-talk about "The Influence of the Dutch in the American Kitchen", at Mount Gulian Historic Site on Thursday, May 10th at 2:30pm.
Ms. Rose has given lectures at the Smithsonian Institute, the New York Historical Society and the Culinary Institute of America. She co-curated the popular exhibit at the Albany Institute, Matters of Taste, which focused on Dutch art as it relates to images of food and drink and the symbolism found in the paintings.
The Mount Gulian presentation will highlight the lasting mark the Dutch left on the Hudson Valley and on America's kitchen. Ms. Rose's cookbooks, with easy recipes dating back 300 years, will be available for sale.
