TrueNorth Theatre Presents Staged Reading of The Knee Desires The Dirt by Julie Hebert
Christine Abril, a biology professor at a small university, is in danger of losing her job. Split and distracted by an intimate drama with her dead husband, a ferocious live-in mother, and a secretive daughter experimenting with sex, Christine can barely show up for work. How does a person live with memory, with family, with herself? How does she know when to let go?
The staged reading will be presented at 7:30pm on Friday, May 18th and Saturday May 19th at the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries, 199 Main Street, Beacon. A donation of
7.50 per person will be accepted at the door.
Response to TrueNorth's productions has been growing every month. At their last production of Rounding Third by Richard Dresser they added a third performance. All three were sold out.
TrueNorth Theatre Project is in its' third season of staged readings and will be producing it's first evening of theater in October 2007 with their very own River Play Festival. It will be an evening of six one-act plays that have the common theme "river" and will be performed at the new Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries Building One on Dennings Point. The evening will comprise plays commissioned for TrueNorth, along with two plays that were found through a national playwriting contest. Commissioned plays are written by celebrated playwright/ screenwriter John Pielmeier (Agnes of God), Irene O'Garden (Women on Fire), Quincy Long (Lively Lad, Joy of Going Somewhere Definite) and resident playwright Michael Heintzman (Separating the Men from the Bull, Under the Hood).
TrueNorth was founded by professional actors, writers and designers who wanted to bring theatre "where we live." The co-founders are Brad Bellamy, David Birn, Suzanna Hay, Lynn Hawley, Michael Heintzman, Kurt Rhoads and Nance W i l l i a m s o n . www.truenorththeatre.org
