Children Invited to Make Puppets for Beacon Hat Day Parade

Children ages 6 and up are invited to join local artist Victoria Raabin on Friday, May 18th from 3:30-5 pm at Howland Public Library in Beacon for a Hat Day craft. Children will create their own parade pole-puppet to march with in Beacon's Hat Day Parade, which will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 11:30am.

Children will have fun making their own large puppet with

hat, of course, out of recycled materials from Hudson Valley Materials Exchange in New Windsor. Materials will be supplied, however, we ask that participants bring an empty, cleaned out laundry detergent bottle if they have one and a long-sleeved shirt if they would like to add arms to their puppet.

This program is free but parents may register children by calling 831-1134, ex.103 or by stopping in. An adult must accompany children between the ages of 6-9. If you have any questions, please contact Ginny Figlia, Youth Services Librarian, at the phone number listed above.
