Spring Theater Classes and Summer Play at Putnam Children's Discovery Center
If your child is interested in theater then check out the offerings this spring and summer from The Putnam Children's Discovery Center. Performing opportunities can be had with this year's summer play, "Paintin' The Fences," a Tom Sawyer musical adventure by Dave Barton and Matt Bond on July 20 at the Mahopac Library. Rehearsals run June 19-July 19 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 7-9 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. Cost for this workshop is $275 ($255 PCDC members). Registration deadline is May 15 or after by special permission. Please note that a PCDC acting class is a prerequisite to being in a PCDC play.
For children ages 9 - 15, The Actors' Workshop runs 4 Saturdays from 10-11am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster beginning May 12 (no class May 26). The basics of stagecraft are emphasized through the use of theater games and improvisational exercises. This class is highly individualized and can accommodate all experience levels. The cost for this workshop is $72 ($60 PCDC members).
Children 5 - 8 can sign up for The Stories Alive Workshop, an innovative class which combines theater and art as children act out familiar stories. This workshop will be offered for 4 Saturdays from 10 -11am at Trinity Lutheran Church beginning May 12 (no class May 26). The cost for this workshop is $72 ($60 PCDC members).
