Local Seventh Graders Honored at the 2007 Jean Saunders History Contest Awards Reception

Local Haldane and Garrison 7th graders were honored at the Awards Reception for the 2007 Jean Saunders History Contest at the Putnam County Historical Society and Foundry School Museum. 50 people attended the event, viewed the projects and cheered on the students as the awards were announced.

First place honors went to Sam Stafford for his project on the Stone Chambers of Putnam County. Second place went to Andre Adams and Gavin Brower for their Mystery Point power-point presentation. Third place went to Kyle Downey and Sasha Klezy for their Benedict Arnold's Flight website. The following students received Honorable Mentions; Conor Austin, Judi Barcavage and Miller Francis.

The Scenic Hudson Young Explorer's Award went to Ryder Hine and Justin Toribio for their project on the Marathon Battery Plant. The following students received Scenic Hudson Honorable Mentions; Andre Adams and Gavin Brower, Parker Walsh, Kelsey Flaherty and Emily Lombardo.

Thank you to Joan Brocker and Mary Foppiano, the Haldane and Garrison 7th grade teachers for all of their support and to Donald MacDonald, Charlotte Eaton, David Gordon, Neal Zuckerman, and Richard Saunders who judged this year's contest.
