Philipstown Senior League Now 5-0
Strong defense coupled with a stingy bullpen givesup only 4 runs in 5 games.
May 1: The Philipstown Pirates 15 & 16 year old boys went on the road for the first time this season, visiting La Grange. Max Tiffany-Miller took the mound teaming up with Will Charkowski (catcher). Max threw heat the entire length of the game giving up 3 hits, punching out 9 and walking two.
With the score tied 0-0 in the top of the fourth an explosive Philipstown squad batted around with 15 players pounding 6 hits and putting up 10 runs. Rafael Famighetti going 3 for 3, a double, 2 RBI's and 3 stolen bases and Matt Calandrillo 2 for 3, a double and triple with 3 RBI's lead the way offensively.
Other notables: JJ Dean went 2 for 2, Luke Soloman put up his first RBI of the season hitting a sharp hit to second. Final score Philipstown 11- La Grange 0
May 6: Traveling to Poughkeepsie, southpaw William Dean took the hill for his second start of the season. Dean went 3 strong innings giving up only 1 hit, 3 k's and 2 baseon balls.
The Pirates scored early, putting up 3 runs in the first. O'Dell reached on a fielder's choice and quickly stole second. Van Tassel hit a bullet to left field scoring O'Dell. Calandrillo hit a double to the fence scoring Van Tassel. Nick Torchia scored Calandrillo on a long single.
Billy Campbell in relief, nailed down the game, going 2 innings and no earned runs
Other notables: Mike Fisher just missed a dinger, hitting the longest single of the season. Christian Callaghan put up his first hit, playing errorless ball at second base. Van Tassel reached again from both sides of the plate. Excellent defense by JJ Dean, O'Dell, Van Tassel and Torchia. Final Score Philipstown 10 - Poughkeepsie North 0
