The parade will being at 9am at the Municipal Building, Main St., Cold Spring. The Memorial Day Parade is a wonderful opportunity for all members of the Philipstown Community to honor the service men and women who gave their lives for freedom and country in all the wars this great nation has participated in. In addition we should take time to pray and reflect upon the sacrifices that our young men and women are making in Iraq , Afganistan, and other parts of the world. On Memorial Day all residents are encouraged to display their American flags on this solemn day.
Grand Marshall for the parade this year will be Mr. Joseph Etta, World War II Veteran. Assistant Grand Marshal will be Mr. Roger Kepple, Vietnam Veteran, who will also be the guest speaker for the service.
The Cold Spring Trolley will be available for Veterans and Senior Citizens who would like to ride in the parade. In preparation for Memorial Day, Veterans will be placing American Flags on all veterans' graves in the Cold Spring Cemetery on May 23, 24, and 25. The Remembrance Garden will again be "planted" on the Great Lawn of St. Mary's Church. Members of the Episcopal Church are making more Crosses and Stars of David. Veterans of the VFW and American Legion are selling both at Food Town, C& E Paint Supplies, Pete's Deli and Charlie's Deli .
On Sunday May 27, 2007 there will be a special Memorial Service at the Parrott Memorial at the waterfront at 11am. All members of the Philipstown Community are invited to attend.
