| More than 2,000 collegebound juniors from 20 area high schools attended the 61st College Conference hosted by the Guidance and Child Study Department of Putnam/Northern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) on Tuesday (May 8), gathering information from some 200 colleges, universities, and technical schools.
Institutions from as far away as Chicago and as close as White Plains were represented giving students a wide range of information about higher education opportunities.
Parents were able to share the experience at an evening event at Yorktown High School, which also featured a variety of workshops on such topics as financial aid, athletic recruiting, and technology.
The following day, school guidance counselors participated in workshops with the college representatives at a daylong event that featured keynote speaker Janet l. Rapelye, Dean of Admissions at Princeton University. The day's events were designed to enhance the college-related advice and support provided by local schools to their students.
