"'The Ask" Program for Fundraisers Presented by Putnam Community Service Network

On Tuesday June 12, the Putnam Community Service Network (PCSN) and the United Way - Pace University Not-for-Profit Management Center, will present a workshop on 'how to ask anyone for a special project, an annual gift, major gift, planned or capitol campaign gift'. It is a one-stop session that will train any fundraiser, at any level, with the strategy and words to use for each type of 'ask'. Emphasis will be placed on why people hesitate or are afraid to ask, and how to overcome these roadblocks, as well as revealing the top ten ways to handle any response or reaction - all examples from real life experiences.

This program is designed to share practical advise with Executive Directors, Program Managers, Resource Development Officers, Fund Raisers, Volunteers, Board members and anyone interested in how to be successful in the art of 'asking'.

Some of the topics to be discussed will include: ·Why some solicitors hesitate to ask people for money, and the simple rules to dissipate these fears; ·The top ten ways to handle any reaction when 'asking'; ·What is the follow through and how to involve leadership, volunteers and staff; ·Numerous sample dialogues on how to 'ask'

The program will take place at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services, Donald B. Smith Campus, 112 Old Route 6, Carmel from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
