Stony Kill Hosts Birthday Party for Splash the River Otter

You're invited to a birthday party for Splash the river otter. Splash is Stony Kill's six-foot mascot. Come wish Splash a happy birthday on Saturday, June 2 from 10am to 3pm.

Kids, make sure mom and dad bring fishing gear and a camera. Do you know that river otters love fish? Yes they do, so let's enjoy a morning of fishing in our farm pond and see what types of fish we can identify for Splash. (Poles and worms provided for those who need them.) Then after lunch, from 1-3pm everyone gets to meet Splash and find out all about life as a river otter. Children can have fun making colorful fish prints to take home as they learn some fascinating fishy facts. Bring a bag lunch and spend the day with us. Light refreshments and other activities may be scheduled. Meet us at the farm pond at Stony Kill rain or shine. Call for more information at 845-831-8780, ext 300.

Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center is operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and is located on Route 9D in Wappingers Falls, two miles north of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. The seven miles of trails and grounds are open to the public from sunrise to sunset for hiking and nature enjoyment. Call 845-831-8780, ext 300 for more information and to get a free calendar of events, or visit www.dec.state.ny.gov
