Lawn Party to Benefit Chapel of Our Lady
On a clear day you can see forever, or at least as far as Manhattan and the Empire State Building, from the Garrison estate of Clara and Bevis Longstreth, site of Chapel Of Our Lady Restoration's annual lawn party benefit. The Saturday, June 9, gathering is from 5 until 7pm, and tickets are $40 per person, tax deductible.
The Longstreths' is the only property on Putnam Ridge, just above Westchester, which it overlooks, commanding unspoiled views of the Hudson River, the Highlands and Camp Smith. On it is a beautiful apple orchard and the last house completed in his lifetime of architect Frank Edward Dushin. Mr. Dushin worked for the firm of Edward Durell Stone before opening his own practice specializing in contemporary residential dwellings in the Hudson Valley and the metropolitan New York area.
The Main Course, Cold Spring, will delight guests with its donation of gourmet hors d'oeuvres, as it has done in the past, and the chapel's volunteer board of directors are once again stepping up to the plate, or the stove as the case may be, to supplement. Wine, donated by D. Yannitelli, and soft drinks, donated by Tim Tenney of Pepsi of the Hudson Valley, will also be served.
There will be a tent, and the party goes on rain or shine, but leave the Manolos at home and wear sensible shoes.
Guests are asked to RSVP by June 2 to 265-5537, or checks may be made out to Chapel of Our Lady Restoration and sent directly to P.O. Box 43, Cold Spring, New York 10516-0043. For more information, www.chapelofourlady.com
