Folks are Stepping Up to the Plate
Dear Editor:

I am continually amazed and gratified by the innate goodness and generosity of this community. I like to jump into projects, and I like to spearhead them, but sometimes it's helpful to have several hands on board. That's when the rallying comes in, and the hope that others will join in on the passion and effort of a specific goal.

The Community Center is now home to a new clay studio equipped with donated professional kilns and a new pottery wheel partially funded by the caring citizens of Clay Angels. Next up is the newly created, and freshly painted and furnished teen room, and a beautiful welcoming garden at the doors to the center (see article). All of these are due to folks stepping up to the plate and getting involved.

The new teen room came about when Shelley Galvin of Colors By Shelley was contacted to see if she'd be interested in volunteering her expertise in Interior Design. Shelley came to see the blank palate of a room, and presented color swatches and the planning began. Volunteer sanders and painters included: Shelley Galvin, Maureen Kazel, Morgan Galvin, Brendan Galvin, Mike Heintzman, Henry Heintzman, Anna Ledwith, Orianna Pavlik, Frank Caccetta and Chris Ostrowski. Generous donations of furniture were gifted by Amy and Kees VanZon, Kim Giachinta, Shelley Galvin and Sherie Cordaz. If anyone is interested in donating large comfy area rugs, please contact Patti Pelican @ 424-4618. Let's continue to do fun projects together.
