James Troupe Thom
James Troupe Thom, 75, husband of the late Barbara Schoonmaker Thom, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Born September 14, 1931 in Beacon, NY, he was the son of the late Evelyn Emory and William Thom. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert J. Thom and William M. Thom. He was married to Marjorie Thom, who pre-deceased him in 1979.
Mr. Thom was a veteran of the US Army. He was a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, and retired from the Veterans Administration in Montrose in 1989 after 30 years of service. He then relocated to Myrtle Beach. He was an active member of the Moose Club and an avid Mets fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Melinda Balke and husband Mark of Texas, Jaime Hustis and husband Charles of Cold Spring; four step-children, Susan Norton and husband Michael of Red Hook, NY, Teresa Femenella of Myrtle Beach, Lynn Szymanski and husband Michael of Elizaville, NY, and Robert Sartoris and companion Tammy Moller of Poughkeepsie, NY; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one godchild, Thomas Herring.
A funeral service was held on May 31 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in South Carolina.Burial was at Ocean Woods Cemetery in Myrtle Beach.
