PVHS Inducts New National Honor Society Members
On May 10th, 2007, Putnam Valley High School (PVHS) proudly inducted 25 new members to the National Honor Society. Following the procession of the new members, the Pledge of Allegiance was led by inductee Kathleen Pattie, and the welcoming remarks read by 2007 PVHS Valedictorian, Tony Rush. Selected inductees addressed the attributes of the National Honor Society, including: Scholarship-Hannah Schmidt; Character-Jackson Gilman-Forlini; Service-Alex Vucetic and Leadership- Jonathan Zupan.
The Presentation of the new members followed: Kristin Brown, Shannon Brown, Melinda Cestaro, Emma Forbes, Jackson Gilman- Forlini, David Goldfarb, Alexandra Huyghe, Emily Kenny, Nicholas Legrady, Kerri LoPuzzo, Ronald Mahnert, Katherine Mahoney, Christine Malek, Miranda McMinn, Katherine Mias, Gerard Pagani, Kathleen Pattie, Joseph Rao, Thomas Ricci, Hannah Schmidt, Esther Sportello, Michelle Tendy, Alexandra Vucetic, Shane Yorgensen, and Jonathan Zupan.
The members then recited National Honor Society Pledge:
"I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected: I will be true to the principles for which it stands; I will be loyal to my school; and will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character."
Administrative representatives included: Gary Tutty, Superintendent of Schools; Dr. Barbara Fuchs, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction; Richard Herlihy, Principal; Sam Oliverio, Jr., Assistant Principal; and, Board of Education Trustees Tina Mackay (President); Frank Reale; Guy Cohen; Mary Maus; and Marie Zarcone.
The members of the National Honor Society Faculty Committee are faculty members Regina Albano, Linda Cefaloni, Jerri Cohen, Vincent DeGregorio, and Lisa Penta, and the National Honor Society Advisor is Edward Schmitt.
