PVHS Repeats Successful Wounded Warrior Fundraiser
The faculty, staff, and students of Putnam Valley High School will be hosting their second annual Wounded Warrior Project fundraiser in Putnam Valley on June 8.
The WWP is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting injured veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom as they return home. Two of the chief ways in which WWP renders assistance are by lobbying for veterans' benefits and getting the soldiers involved in disabled sports and activities.
The individuals behind the fundraiser are all high school teachers, led by PVHS science teacher, Bruce Ludovicy. "Last year we raised $4,355 in the one-day event: we hope to raise $10,000 this year," he explained. "The Putnam Valley community turned out in great fashion and will do so again.
Events of the day include a Fun Run, game booths, live bands, and an excellent chicken barbecue." Soldiers who have been aided by the Wounded Warrior Project will also come and participate. For more information, visit www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
