PVHS Senior Wins NYS Lottery Scholarship

Putnam Valley High School (PVHS) is pleased to announce that graduating senior Raymond Babnik has been awarded a New York State Lottery Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Scholarship for 2007. Ray is the son of Michele and Andrew Babnik, of Putnam Valley.

The Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship is awarded to one exceptional senior from every participating high school in New York State. Each winner receives a $4,000 scholarship, paid annually in $1,000 increments to be applied toward the cost of attendance at an accredited New York State college, university, or trade school. This scholarship award is intended for students who are involved in many areas of high school life including citizenship, community service participation, leadership skills and academics.

In addition to having an exemplary academic record, Ray was captain of the PVHS varsity soccer team and is currently a varsity lacrosse player, about to compete in the Section One lacrosse finals on May 31st. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, and works for the Putnam Valley Children's Center as a Recreation Assistant. Ray plans to attend SUNY Cortland, where he will study Athletic Training and Physical Education.
