Sheriff's Department Offers Safety Course to Boaters

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department will be holding a two-day New York State Boater's Safety Course. This course is an important requirement for persons between the ages of 10 and 18 years who intend to operate any type of motorized watercraft. In addition, all persons of any age must successfully complete the eighthour course if they wish to operate a personal watercraft (PWC).

Certified Sheriff's Department instructors will hold the 8 hour course on May 31st and June lst at the Putnam Valley High School, which is located at 142 Peekskill Hollow Road in the Town of Putnam Valley. The course time is 6pm to 10pm each evening, and participants must attend the full 8 hours to obtain credit for the course and receive a certificate of completion.

To register for the course, interested persons should contact Deputy Sheriff Richard Mansfield at (845) 225-4300, ext. 489. All parties are encouraged to register early, as each class size is limited o the first twenty-five (25) registrants.
