Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area Announces Dates for Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble

The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, Hudson River Valley Greenway and New York: State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) are pleased to announce the dates of the Eighth Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble, scheduled for September 15- 16, 23, 29-30, 2007. Covering twelve counties with more than 160 events, participants will have the opportunity to explore the Hudson River Valley and Hudson River Estuary by boat and on foot through a variety of guided walking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and biking experiences. The Ramble is a perfect opportunity to discover the history, culture and landscape that make this region nationally significant. Many Ramble events offer an in-depth exploration of heritage themes such as the Revolutionary War, and the Hudson River School of Art, while others celebrate the Greenway Trail or Hudson River Estuary.

Mary Mangione, Director of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Executive Director of the Hudson River Valley Greenway, expressed enthusiasm about sponsoring the eighth consecutive year of the Hudson River Valley Ramble, stating, "Through the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, we provide Ramble participants a unique opportunity to experience first hand the history and environment that earn the Hudson River Valley it's national designation. For the eighth year, we invite residents, regional and national visitors to ramble through the Valley and discover what makes this place special."

All Ramble events are led by naturalists, ecologists, historians, geologists and trained volunteers from participating groups, which include environmental, land conservation, trail and historic preservation organizations. Events are offered for all abilities, most are free and many are family oriented.

Events for the 2007 Hudson River Valley Ramble will be posted on the Ramble website this summer, so be sure to visit www.hudsonrivervalley.com to find an event near you. This is also the official site for the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and provides information about local restaurants, overnight accommodations and tourist attractions throughout the Hudson Valley.
