Greenway Announces 2007 Trail Grant Program

$65,000 available for trail construction, improvement and design

To recognize National Trails Day, June 2, 2007, Mary Mangione, Executive Director of the Hudson River Valley Greenway, has announced that applications for the 2007 Greenway Trail Grant program are now available. $65,000 is available for grants in this year's program. Download an application at wwv.hudsongreenway.state.ny.us. Applications may also be requested by calling (518) 473- 3835, by emailing the Greenway at hrvg@hudsongreenway.state.ny.us. All applications must be delivered to the Greenway office or postmarked by 4pm, September 7, 2007.

The Greenway Trail Grant program is an annual competitive small grant funding opportunity available to communities and not-for-profits within the designated Hudson River Valley Greenway area, which extends from Battery Park in Waterford, Saratoga County to Battery Park, Manhattan. The program offers funding for trail planning and design, construction and rehabilitation, education and interpretation. Emphasis is placed on trail projects that seek to implement the goals of the Draft Greenway Trail Vision Plan, particularly the construction of new segments of the Greenway Trail to connect existing portions, and improvements to currently designated Greenway Trails. This annual program has offered technical and financial assistance to municipalities and notfor profit organizations since 1995 and has provided over $1 million in funding for trail projects throughout the Hudson Valley.
