| On June 30, the Hudson Highlands Land Trust (HHLT) invites residents and visitors to join them at Philipstown Park in Garrison for the 3rd Annual HHLT Family Festival: a rollicking, old-fashioned community barbeque and square dance. The festivities begin at 4pm with live music and barbeque served at 5:30pm.
The event will feature great local food and the music of The Resonators and square dance caller Liz Slade, with special guest bluegrass legend John Cohen. "Last year, more than 400 residents and guests joined us to celebrate the Hudson Highlands at this terrific community event. We expect this year will be even more fun," remarked Matt Shipman, HHLT Board Member and Event Committee Chair. The Family Festival is being sponsored through the generosity of Turner Construction Company and Pepsi Cola of the Hudson Valley.
Once again, the Land Trust will donate all event proceeds to the Garrison Children's Education Fund and the Haldane School Foundation in support of school environmental programs. The Haldane and Garrison "Sleepover Under the Stars" - a fun introduction to camping for families - will take place immediately after the Festival on the park grounds, culminating in the morning with breakfast. "Philipstown Park is a quiet and peaceful location for the sleepover - I've been told that families look forward to the Festival and Sleepover weekend all year as their kickoff to summer," Seamus Carroll, President of the Haldane School Foundation and HHLT Board Member, commented.
Tickets for the Family Festival are $10/individual, $25/ family including dinner, and will be available for purchase at the Land Trust office at 1180 Route 9D in Garrison and at the admission table on the day of the event at the Philipstown Park. For more information, please call 424-3358 or visit: www.hhlt.org. Registration for "Sleepover Under the Stars" is $50/family and includes admission to the Family Festival and breakfast on Sunday morning. All "Sleepover Under the Stars" participants must pre-register. To register, visit: www.haldaneschoolfoundation.org.
