Assemblywoman Galef Out of Ideas Dear Editor:
I read with great interest an article in the North County News dated May 30, 2007 titled "School tax reform gains steam".
I commend Assemblyman Greg Ball for asking the right questions and trying to find the solutions to our ever increasing tax burden. Greg Ball has been in office for 5 months and is proposing meaningful, serious property tax reform.
In contrast, Assemblywoman Sandra Galef does not know where she stands. She is still thinking about the issue and wonders where schools would get the money to fix a leaky roof. Sandra Galef has been in the Assembly since 1993 and has run out of ideas. Since the beginning of 2006 Sandra Galef has been Chairperson for the Committee on Real Property Taxation in the State Assembly and yet the two counties that she represents, Westchester and Putnam, ranked number 1 and 9, respectively, in median property taxes paid in the nation.
This is a classic example of someone who has been in office too long and is out of touch with the communities she represents. Galef's inattention affects the daily lives of the people in the towns that comprise her district, This is why her district is suffering and why new leadership is needed to replace her.
It is clear that Greg Ball has new and creative ideas and Sandra Galef is tired and has run out of ideas.
