Hudson Valley Native American Archaeology Lecture at Putnam County Historical Society
What do archaeological artifacts tell us about the Native Americans who lived in our backyards thousands of years ago? The Putnam County Historical Society presents "Understanding Past Native American Cultures in the Hudson Valley through Archaeology," a lecture by Dr. Eugene J. Boesch.
Come learn about the history of Native Americans in Putnam County and the surrounding areas from 10,000 years ago through the age of European exploration. Discover how local archaeological sites help us understand how climate and environmental settings influence prehistoric ways of life in the lower Hudson Valley.
Dr. Boesch has undertaken archaeological investigations in the Hudson Valley area for over 25 years and is a member of the Westchester County Historic Preservation Advisory Committee and the Putnam County Historic Preservation Advisory Commission. This lecture is free and open to the public, and is made possible through the New York Council for the Humanities' Speakers in the Humanities program.
The lecture will begin at 2pm at the Putnam County Historical Society & Foundry School Museum, 63 Chestnut Street in Cold Spring. To reserve a space please call the museum at 265- 4010, ext. 12. Hours are 11- 5, Wednesday- Sunday.
