Art After Seventy-Five Exhibit at Putnam National Golf Club Features Older Artists

Putnam Arts Council is pleased to announce their current exhibit at Putnam National Golf Club in Mahopac, featuring the creative efforts of working artists seventy-five and older at our 15th annual ART AFTER SEVENTY-FIVE exhibit.

The opening reception, Sunday, June 3 was well attended and Awards were presented as chosen by Juror, Tony Haruch. The Best in Show award was received by H. Santa Coloma (Mahopac)for his batik, Mother Nature, Second Place was awarded to Fritz Kaleja (Somers)for a photograph, Moth, and the Third Place Award went to Pauline Bruno's (Mahopac) oil painting, Gatherers. The fifty-seven works will be on exhibit through July 16. Contact Putnam National at 845-628-4200 or visit www.putnamnational.com.

Juror for awards, Anthony Haruch, a resident of Somers, NY, taught for many years at Mahopac High School and SUNY, New Paltz. He is a long time member and participant with the Putnam Arts Council as an artist and juror.

This popular exhibit has introduced many fine artists to the public; some are enjoying a gallery style experience for the first time and others are new to the viewing audience. Carmel (& NYC) resident E. Nobles Lowe conceived and helped develop this exhibit to celebrate art and artists and their work, regardless of age. Mr. and Mrs. Lowe continue as sponsors, along with Mrs. Nancy Dill, Mahopac National Bank and Senator Vincent L. Leibell who have all supported this celebration of senior accomplishments for many years.

Current information about PAC events, programs and classes are available on their website, putnamartscouncil.com or by calling 845-216-0636 during office hours, Tuesday - Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm. As they settle into our new temporary quarters at Tilly Foster Farm, 100 Rte 312 in Brewster, (while post-fire restorative work is done to our Kennicut Hill Rd. facility) they invite you to visit this beautiful location, where they will hold Summer and Fall classes.
