Flute Recital Showcased Zaleski's Students

Six flute students of Kimberly Zaleski from Haldane and Garrison Schools were featured performers at a recital on June 2 at the Desmond-Fish library. Family, friends, and area residents attended the event, which showcased students who had recently received excellent or outstanding evaluations at the NYS Music Administrators Association's Spring festival.

Jerome Famularo opened the program playing Summer Song and Fiesta, by William Billingsley. He was followed by Brigit O'Malley, who performed Christoph Von Gluck's Menuet & Dance of the Blessed Spirit from the opera Orpheus. Elizabeth Casparian entertained the audience with her rendition of The Magic Flute by Mozart and The Swan by Camille Saint- Saens.

Rebecca Frumento performed Bergamask by Paul Koepke, and then played a Naudot flute duet with Kimberly Zaleski. She was followed by Hannah Penner's performance of "The Peasant Dance"(Weber) and "Blues in F"(Billingsley). Laura Gunder then perfomed Meditation from the Massenet's opera Thais.

Brigit O'Malley and Laura Gunder entertained the crowd with two duets, and Kimberly Zaleski concluded the program with Syrinx, a work for solo flute written by Claude Debussy that recounts the myth of how the flute was created.

Special thanks to Mrs.Debbie Contini, Haldane Music Director, for accompanying the students on piano.
