Keep Putnam Beautiful Advises How You Can Help Do Your Part
Keep Putnam Beautiful has some tips for residents to help out in keeping the county clean:
Adopt-a-Highway. Adopt a minimum of one mile of a road or bike trail and receive two free metal signs installed at both ends of your section. This is a free program requiring just 4 cleanups a year.
Litter-grabbers. Each is 32" long. Loaned out free to adopt-a-highway or other volunteers. Imprinted to advertise your commitment to improving Putnam County for just $25 each (minimum order 10).
Take-a-bag-for-a-walk. Encouraging personal volunteerism by using your own tall kitchen bags or re-using grocery plastic bags. Combine with usual weekly trash pick-up.
Ink jet, laser printer cartridge and cell phone recycling pick-ups. Call 528-1632 when you would like them picked up. They send them to a recycler who pays them a few dollars (for more litter-grabbers).
Reduction, reuse, recycling with schools using the free resources from www.gogreeninitiative.org and school projects funding from www.nysar3.org.
