Make Full Use of the Expanded Recycling Program To the Editor:
Cold Spring Village Trustee Seth Gallagher recently spearheaded our village board to expand our recycling program, and it's a tremendous victory for our village and everyone in it.
For any residents who don't know about this latest development, the newly expanded paper recycling guidelines allow us to recycle anything paper: magazines, phone books, food boxes - basically whatever you can tear. So this Thursday night, wrap it all up and put it on the curb - and as the weeks go by, watch with pleasure as your garbage on Monday night is smaller. Not only does the expanded program reduce the amount of waste that goes to a landfill - and thus helps our planet - it also saves the taxpayers money, because it costs more to throw things away than it does to reuse them.
I strongly encourage all village residents to make the fullest use of the expanded recycling program. I look forward to seeing how much money we've saved our village by the end of the fiscal year in 2008. And I want to extend my deepest appreciation to Seth Gallagher, the mayor and the other trustees for taking a big step toward making Cold Spring more green. I hope we can see more such steps taken in the coming year!
