Mid-Hudson Adirondack Club to Run Summer Day Hikes and Paddles in the Region
The Mid-Hudson Adirondack Club will be conducting a number of hikes in the region during this summer. Bimonthly Mid-Week Hikes will take please on the first and third Thursdays of the month. These moderate 3-4 hour hikes will take place is different areas in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Hikes are followed by a stop for refreshments or dinner. Contact either leader by Tuesday and they will let you know where they are going, depending on weather and other condition. For Those New to Hiking: Join Lalita Malik on once monthly series of hikes to explore various areas of the Hudson Valley, for those new to hiking or those who prefer a more leisurely pace. Young Members Group Hikes are geared for those in their 20's and 30's, but open to all.

Sun, July 1 Paddle at Constitution Marsh: Easy
Paddle in Constitution Marsh, the Audubon Wild Life Preserve of Tidal Wet Lands - a rich habitat for Hudson River birds. Meet at the Cold Spring Metro North railroad station. Launch site is across the street. Total paddling time about 3 hrs, 7 miles. Bring lunch, water and PFD's. Steady rain or strong winds cancel. Sun, July 15 The Return of the Swike: Moderate
Follow the Appalachian Trail, the Long Path and an old mining road in Harriman State Park on this swike (swim & hike) to 2 lakes, where we'll swim and relax. Added attractions will be the Lemon Squeezer and the Greenwood Mine. Mileage: about 7.5. Bring lunch, plenty of water, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, water shoes and hiking boots. Rain cancels. Meet in McDonald's lot, Rt. 9, Wappingers Falls (across from Home Depot) at 9:30am. If inconvenient, call for alternative meeting place. Fri-Sun, July 20-22 Trail Work - The Big One Tim Messerich has been putting his effort into projects at the RPH Shelter on the Appalachian Trail near the Taconic Parkway south of Route 84, for many months. He needs 25 volunteers to help finish a bridge to replace the existing structure. Food, work, good company provided. Leader; Tim Messerich, 845- 297-9573
Sun, Sep 23 Fishkill Ridge: Moderate
In association with the Hudson River Ramble, this hike will reward participants with challenging uphill climbs and numerous scenic vistas of the Hudson Valley below. With a little luck, you may even see rattle snakes.
