Two Garrison Boys Win Spot on the Hudson Valley Select Under-13 Lacrosse Team
Two boys from Garrison, Matt Donovan and Ryder Hine, were selected from the 120 who tried-out earlier this year to represent the Hudson Valley at the National Under-13 Lacrosse tournament. Each regional chapter of US Lacrosse is encouraged to hold tryouts and build a team for this tournament and the Hudson Valley has entered teams for the past 10 years. A national tournament for both boys and girls, the boys stayed in the dorms at the U Mass. in Amherst MA while playing five games in the "A" bracket the weekend of June 15-17.
For this large two-day event, 13 year-old players from as far away as California, Washington State and Colorado are brought together. The local boys from P.L.A.Y. had a fine time at the concerts and social events while making significant contributions to their Hudson Valley team's record of 4-1. Their lone loss was to the athletic and highly-skilled team from the Baltimore-Metro Chapter of US Lacrosse.
