Short-sighted to Focus on Cost of Wind Power Dear Editor:
The concern about the cost of bringing wind power to the county is understandable, but ultimately it's short-sighted, and it is precisely this kind of myopia which has brought us to the environmentally vulnerable state we're in. The county can't afford wind power? The county cannot not afford wind power. In other towns and cities, in my mother's retirement community in Florida, for example, recycling is discounted because of its costliness. Should we have skipped that program too?
We've been living off the money we didn't spend to protect the environment for decades. It's time, I suspect, to make the sacrifices which, had we been willing to make them a good while back, would have reduced our liability today.
