Wendie Garber Solo Exhibit at Flat Iron Gallery
The Flat Iron Gallery of Peekskill will have its first solo exhibit of oil and watercolor paintings by its Director, Wendie Garber, entitled New Visions. An artist's reception will be held Sat., Aug. 4, 2007 from 2-6pm. The show will be on view in the gallery's second floor exhibit space from Aug. 3-26, 2007. Friday evening, Aug. 3rd, the gallery will stay open until 8pm for the downtown art district of Peekskill's first Friday of the month celebration.
On display will be local watercolor and oil landscapes, still life compositions, floral and figure paintings. Garber was an art educator in the Hendrick Hudson School District for 29 years, and opened an art gallery in 1996 in Peekskill's growing downtown art district ... the "Flat Iron Gallery" named after the historic flatiron building it is housed in. She also was one of the first artists to rent a painting studio in 1992 when artists were first settling in. Four years later she expanded her studio space and started exhibiting the work of five painters and then expanded to a four-room gallery on two floors exhibiting the work of over 100 artists. Several of the artists Garber represents she has personally studied painting with ... Andrew Lattimore, Neil Waldman, and David Fox. These renowned artists are all instructors at the Westchester Art Workshop in White Plains where Garber has actively continued her studies in art for many years.
