Doansburg Chamber Ensemble to Feature Trio of Harp, Cello and Flute
The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble continues its summer music festival presenting a trio of harp, cello and flute on Saturday, August 4 at 8pm at St. Mary's in the Highland's Episcopal Church in Cold Spring (corner of Routes 301 and 9D), and on Sunday, August 5th at 4pm at Trinity Lutheran Church on Route 6 just west of Brewster.
This special presentation will feature flutist Christine Smith, harpist Joy Plaisted, and cellist Matthew Goeke. The trio will perform Greensleeves Variations by Dewey Owens, Fifth Sonata by J.C. Naudot, and Debussy's Girl with the Flaxen Hair, as well as a variety of other works.
Miss Plaisted holds a Masters degree from Juilliard School of Music and has performed in venues in the U.S. as well as in Japan, China, Hong Kong, France, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. Mr. Goeke holds degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. He performs regularly with notable groups throughout the New York area, and his performances can be heard on a number of labels including Projekt Records, Opus One Records, Polygram, Koch International Classics, and Elektra. Miss Smith also holds a degree from the Juilliard School of Music. She has toured England with the Stonybrook Wind Ensemble, and has performed at Paul Hall, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
