Arts on the Lake Sponsors 2nd Open Mouth Night

Following its successful debut, Arts on the Lake will sponsor its second Open Mouth Night on Friday, July 13 at the Theatre in the Ground Floor Space of the Lake Carmel Cultural Center in the former Lake Carmel Firehouse on Route 52.

Actors and performers willing to use minimal props while standing to present their brief (4 to 8 minutes) sketches, songs, poetry readings, dialogues or films are welcome. Walk-ins are also encouraged. Performances presently scheduled for Friday evening include a short play by Tony Howarth. Bob Hauver will return to Open Mouth Night to sing.

Last month Hauver and his wife Patti, showcased their delightfully absurd film Portrait of a Genius which proved to be a favorite with the opening night audience. Lake Carmel photographer Chris Casaburi will present his recent film festival entry. Casaburi, who had to write and film a brief documentary within a 72-hour period, filmed his movie in Kent using local residents for actors. Open Mouth Night director and monologist James Shearwood will return to the stage as Ralph Vincent, who last month entertained the audience with his hilarious vacation slide show.

Performances begin at 8pm. To reserve a seat in the audience e-mail: rsvp@artsonthelake.org. Performers should e-mail: theatre@artsonthelake.org or appear at the theatre before 7:30pm. Admission: AotL members: $5; non-members: $6. Performers: free.
