Falling Out Between Houseguest and Host Reveals Man's Fugitive Status
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that a man who had been living as a houseguest in a Philipstown home for the past year was arrested on June 29, 2007 as a wanted fugitive from New York City following a dispute between the man and his host. Mr. George C. Valentin, aged 23, who reportedly resided at 102 Esselborne Road for about the last twelve months, was taken into custody on a violent felony arrest warrant for a robbery he allegedly committed in New York City.
At about 5pm on June 29, Deputy Sheriff Jason Woilman investigated a complaint called in by the owner of the Esselborne Road residence. The complainant told the deputy that he and his houseguest, Mr. Valentin, had a falling out and that Mr. Valentin was refusing to move out of the residence and had threatened him.
During his investigation, Deputy Woilman ran a computer check on Mr. Valentin, which disclosed the outstanding felony warrant. Consequently, the deputy arrested him and transported him to the Sheriffs Department headquarters in Carmel, where arrangements were made to turn him over to the custody of the New York City Police Department.
