Lauren Thorpe Graduates Magna Cum Laude from University of New Hampshire
Lauren Thorpe was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation Magna Cum Laude during commencement exercises at the University of New Hampshire on May 19, 2007. Guest speakers for the ceremonies were former Presidents George H. W. Bush and William J. Clinton.
Lauren is the daughter of Terry and Faye Thorpe, the sister of Robert and Michael, and the granddaughter of Lou and Kathy Thorpe and Rosemary Melville. She is a 2003 graduate of Haldane High School.
Throughout her four years of study, Lauren was very active in her school and her community in raising awareness to environmental issues. In April she organized "Step-it-Up" a nationwide event focusing on climate change, which was held for the first time at the University of New Hampshire. The success of her hard work yielded enough contributions to further educate and orchestrate future events concerning environmental issues at the University.
Lauren is presently working for the Sierra Club in Concord, NH, as a Community Organizer. She is responsible for organizing events throughout the State of NH, focusing on climate change and the promotion of clean energy.
