Beacon Sloop Club Corn Festival

Once again its time for fresh local-grown corn right here in the Hudson Valley. The Beacon Sloop Club's annual Corn celebration happens on Sunday Aug 12 from 12 noon to 6pm rain/or shine at the Beacon Waterfront.

The afternoon will feature live music with Terry Whitebook, Holland, Thompson & Tooch, Dave King, Mighty Girl Band, Kate Power & Steve Einhor, and Sharleen Leahey. In addition Ken Anderson will sing songs of the Paul Robeson era and Beacon's own Pete Seeger will round out the entertainment with some stories and songs.

Free sailing aboard the sloop Woody Guthrie will be available as weather permits. Space is limited and guests can sign up at the sloop club booth during the festival. Fresh, ready to eat sweet corn on the cob, chili and other summer treats will also be available, as well as food and craft vendors along with the Farmer's Market. The festival is by the waterfront.

The Beacon Sloop Club is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. For more information about the festival call 845-542- 0 7 2 1 , www.beaconsloopclub.org. Those interested in being food or crafts vendors, or having an activist information table, or a crafts demonstration table should call 914-271-0057 or email jskycroton@yahoo.com.
