Election Day Poll Workers Needed for Cold Spring Elections

The Village of Cold Spring needs polling place workers for the Village elections. The elections usually take place on the third Tuesday in March, and have in the past been from 12 noon to 9pm. The Village is now considering extending the voting hours to start at 6am and is looking for civic-minded individuals to help staff the polls.

Poll workers earn at least $9/ hr while helping to ensure that our democracy works as it should. For Village elections election workers can have any or no political affiliation, but for County-run elections a poll worker needs to be a registered Democrat or Republican. Training courses are given by Putnam County, and will qualify those who take it to work in any Village, Town, State, or Federal election. The next election worker training on this side of the County will be held Thursday, August 30, 7pm, at the Garrison Volunteer Fire Department, 1619 Route 9. If you would like to participate, or can't but are interested in being a poll worker, please call the Cold Spring Village Clerk at 265-3611.

The Putnam County Board of Elections is also looking for election workers and can be contacted at (845) 278-6970.
