Registration Deadline Approaches for Teaching the Hudson Valley's Summer Institute
Teaching the Hudson Valley's Summer Institute is coming up fast: July 31-August 2 at the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, Hyde Park. The Institute is an exciting opportunity for those who want to share the Hudson Valley with children and youth to develop contacts and deepen their knowledge. The three-day event draws teachers, librarians, local historians, and scientists; museum, environmental, and park educators, and those curious about the region.
This year's program, Explore, Innovate, Inspire! Teaching the Hudson Valley Past and Present, will compare today's Valley with the one Henry Hudson visited in 1609. Day one will focus on exploration and encounter; day two, invention and technology; and day three, how the intimate knowledge of a particular place motivates and inspires people in the arts, sciences, and other realms.
Highlights include . . . "Exploring with Henry Hudson," "Native Americans of the Hudson River Valley: Then and Now," "Science, Technology, and the Hudson Valley," "Following Trails through the Skies and the Seas," and "Pouring the Hudson into Song"
Advance registration is $90 for all three days or $35 per day. The registration deadline is July 23rd. Fees include continental breakfast, lunch, and most field trips.
