Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Welcomes First Executive Director Maureen Meltzer-McGrath starts new position on August 1
The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Maureen Meltzer-McGrath, a seven-year Philipstown resident, will join the chamber as the organization's first executive director on August 1, 2007.
Maureen will represent the chamber as a part time executive director and continue her work as the program coordinator for the Julia L. Butterfield Library, where she has worked for the past five years. Maureen will report to the Chamber's Board of Directors and will work closely with the President of the Chamber's Board and its Executive Committee. Maureen will be responsible for providing management and coordination for all organizational activities, serve as the Chamber's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), direct organizational planning and assure implementation of the Chamber's Mission. Having a dedicated ED will insure a level of continuity for future Chamber boards and allow the organization to continue to grow throughout the Western Putnam business community.
Previously, Maureen was a writer and editor for numerous national magazines including the Condé Nast Publications for 10 years. After leaving CNP, Maureen worked as a freelance editor and writer for such publications as In Style, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Parenting, Health, Ladies Home Journal and YM magazines.
Maureen has also worked for many websites, such as iVillage.com, and More.com during the internet boom.
Her work in the community includes volunteer positions on the boards of both The Haldane School Foundation and the Haldane Parent/Teacher Association where she is Corresponding Secretary. She also co-chaired the 2007 PTA Parents As Reading Partners program, which had a record number of participants and reached out to the Philipstown community as a whole for Drop Everything And Read Day.
Maureen lives with her husband, John, and their two children, Mae and Graeme, in the village of Cold Spring.
